Rich and Lonely was founded in 2019 by online personality Marcus “MBoZe” Blanks and designer Aaron Create. The name reflects a paradox long explored in philosophy: that wealth does not guarantee fulfillment. Inspired by the writings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the brand examines the tension between success and solitude. Emerging from the intersection of digital culture, gaming, and contemporary streetwear, Rich and Lonely quickly developed a distinct identity defined by restraint, authenticity, and considered design.

More than a label, Rich and Lonely exists as a reflection on modern ambition.

History

STUDENTS OF THE GAME

From the beginning, Rich And Lonely positioned itself within online culture and gaming communities. Backgrounds in esports and streaming gave the brand immediate visibility among fans of competitive gaming and content creators. The brand quickly developed a recognizable identity through limited drops and pre-order releases with pieces such as hoodies, tees, and hats.

Early Releases

The earliest releases consisted of heat-pressed long and short sleeve tees, produced in modest conditions within the living room of our apartment, just steps away from the kitchen. What began as a small, improvised workspace quickly became the foundation of the brand’s first creative studio. At the center of it all was a second-hand heat press purchased through Facebook Marketplace, an unassuming machine that quietly became the first engine behind the label.

With limited resources but a clear vision, each piece was produced by hand, one garment at a time. Those early nights spent printing in the apartment laid the groundwork for the brand’s identity: independent, self-built, and driven by a commitment to craft. What started as a simple setup in a living room would ultimately mark the beginning of a much larger story.
